The Art Cocoon is pleased to participate in World Art Dubai art fair, from April 12th – 15th, 2017, for the second consecutive year, presenting for a first time in the UAE, the work of four contemporary artists,

Vassilis Karakatsanis, who will be present at the art fair with the gallery, has exhibited in South and North America, Europe and as far as China. A widely acclaimed figurative artist of mixed media, with a long list of international acquisitions of his artworks by Museums and Art Institutions. For a first time Vassilis will be attending World Art Dubai to present his work in the UAE. Vassilis Karakatsanis works are the result of an inquisitive mind, a conscious exploration of his urban surroundings and personal encounters in the contemporary society. His thoughts and observations are visually illustrated through his recent art series called ‘Carpets2’ and ‘Roma’s Urban Tools’. The Art Cocoon will be showcasing artworks from his series ‘Carpets 2’.

Sofia Fotiadou (b.1961, Greece) work is best known for its figurative realistic visual compositions. With several solo and group exhibitions, in her home country and abroad, Sofia’s work got international recognition and notable critics by art historians and art critics. Sofia Fotiadou will participate with three oil paintings from her series, ‘Birds’ and ‘Women Figures’.

Thekla Papadopoulou's (b.1978, Cyprus) is an abstract mixed media artist who gained international attention early on with invites for exhibitions in New York and London. Her work comes always from a strong conceptual base as she constantly researches and experiments before concluding to proceed to a new art series. Artworks from her recent art series called 'Fragments' will be presented at the fair. For this series, she created abstract forms that seek to outgrow the frame of the painted canvas such as our emotions would do extending to reach the surrounding space and people.

Ioanna Kythreotou (b.1984, Cyprus) will be exhibiting nine artworks from her recent series 'Tales of Dystopian Grandeur'. Her expressionistic artworks are delicate reconstructions of existing places in an attempt to retrieve and illustrate the beauty of abandoned spaces and structures, using her own layering techniques.

World Art Dubai is running for a 3rd year catering Dubai’s insatiable demand for contemporary art. The upcoming third edition of World Art Dubai targets to a bigger attendance and awareness from around the region. With a unique selection of 300 international participants it will add and reflect to the city’s growing prominence as leading cultural and artistic hub with a diverse program of education, entertainment and art collections.
