'Recollection' - Solo Exhibition of Thekla Papadopoulou
Thekla Papadopoulou - 'Recollection' - Invitation
15th of October, 2018 - The Art Cocoon gallery presents ‘Recollection’, a solo exhibition of abstract contemporary artist Thekla Papadopoulou, showcasing 12 mixed media artworks on canvas and wooden panel, exclusively available at The Art Cocoon gallery.
Thekla Papadopoulou retrieves visual patterns from nature, using landscape as her inspiration for an inner-dialogue and exploration of her emotional experience and interpretation of her surroundings. Her work is characterized by richly textured surfaces, evoking the viewer to sense the dynamics of the infinite motion of the sea or the power and mystery of the land.
Thekla’s artistic practices embody a wide range of mixed media techniques including the use of sand, vitro, acrylic and oil, varnish, collage and found materials. Her abstract works capture her ability to incorporate disparate elements, into her visual compositions defined by their balanced structure and harmonic chromatic schemes.
Thekla’s images are not representational, but seek to elicit our sensations, memories and wonder, reminding our encounters with the nature, encouraging us to reconnect with our inner self and surroundings by living in the now.
