Helene Pavlopoulou, 'Jinetes de Azul' invitation
Athens, October 5, 2017. The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Hellenic Republic has the honor of inviting the inauguration of the ‘Jinetes de Azul’ Exhibition to be held on Thursday, October 12 at the Cultural Space "Francisco de Miranda "in Charitos 6, Kolonaki, at 19:30.
The renowned Greek artist Helene Pavlopoulou, evoking the artistic movement "Der Blaue Reiter" ("The Blue Horseman"), leads us to explore an audiovisual allegory with a humanitarian message, a utopian and poetic reflection on democratic morality that once again became visionary and constitutes the urgent demand of these times.
Riders blue is inspired by two revolutions of the nineteenth century, on the one hand the Greek Revolution and on the other hand the victorious South American Revolution against Spanish domination led by the eternal Liberator "Simon Bolivar." Domination meant for nascent America the greatest holocaust in human history: "100 million Native Americans were exterminated while the deaths associated with the Indian slavery trade are estimated at 28 million."
The exhibition is composed of nine works in which the allegorical blue color and the elegiac tone stand out, as if it were a frieze of the floating Parthenon, a Procession, similar to the one of ritual of the "Pan-Atheneas", suspended in the air of the Contemporary Athens, in memory of the place where democracy and humanity were born. A troupe of wild horses or Trojan horses is added, with musical instruments that bring messages, with boat frames that are dramatic symbols of both the landing and the domination, as well as the odyssey of the human being.
We also find the rebellious dancers of life who seem to be the negatives of a dream, reflections, contemporary prisoners of Plato's cave, as if they were within the universe of the mirage of Mátrix, under the threat of terrorism, the distortion of truth , the alienation of virtual reality and manipulation.
The faces of the heroes Simón Bolívar, Odysseas Andrutsos and the unknown Indian hero are completed, as if they were portraits commemorating a Museum of Humanism. The voice of the poet Nikos Engonopulos who recites the poem "Bolivar", embraces the exhibition as an Echo of another hero or martyr, is the voice of the artist who testifies to the truth.
This Diplomatic Mission is pleased to invite all the general public, Venezuelan and Latin American community, artists, intellectuals, journalists and artistic institutions to the opening and season of this important exhibition. This exhibition will be open to the public until November 29, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday. Admission is free
