About
Born: 1987, India
Lives and works: U.A.E.
Shrutika Gosavi is an internationally multi-awarded artist living in Dubai, UAE since 2011. Her latest achievements are, her selection by the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festivals 2020 committee to participate with her artwork 'The Life in a Metro 2', as well her nomination with ‘Honorable Mention Award’ at the 1st International Watercolor Biennale 2018, in Malaysia.
Shrutika’s art is contemporary figurative using elements of symbolism and surrealism. She works intuitively, inspired by the human body, nature, spirituality, identity and perception matters. Her observations and experiences of her surrounding environment contribute to the development of a series of works, where she processes the significance of the external world to the human behavior and body.
Faceless human forms are filling her canvases, with their exaggerated body parts and gestures. Gosavi is a master of using charcoal, ink, and acrylic paint, her favorite mediums, which she likes to constantly experiment with.
Some of the series she developed are 'The Goat’, ‘Lines’, ‘The Mask Series’, ‘The Life in a Metro’, ‘The People’, and ‘A Comfort Chair’.
She was invited in 2016 to Abu Dhabi to participate to Liwa Art Residency which helped her to evolve her work into a more spiritually one, looking into the connection of natural elements and the human being. She had her first retrospective solo exhibition in Sharjah, UAE in 2018.
Shrutika has exhibited internationally in countries such as Italy, India, UAE, France, Malaysia, USA.
Shrutika’s work can be described as autobiographical, a personal visual journal of her past memories, present concerns and future visions. An ‘open window’ to her soul.
“Every form reflects me and I am in every form, and person in the painting.”
Medium: Acrylic paint, Graphite, Ink, charcoal on canvas and paper.
